The Instructional Design/Technology position plays a key role in supporting the college's educational mission by enabling faculty to innovate and excel in teaching across all delivery methods. This position is central to implementing distance education services, aiming to enhance both user experience and the overall teaching and learning process. This position is responsible for maintaining and ensuring effective administration of the CWC Learning Management System (LMS) and associated instructional technologies. Additionally, troubleshooting LMS issues for students and faculty is a core responsibility, all while operating collaboratively within the team.

  • Serves as administrator of the college's LMS to ensure smooth operation with minimal resources: configure, manage, and optimize technical settings to ensure they are customized to meet the needs of end users across academic department.
  • Coordinates with IT, the registrar and other information systems to ensure data flow occurs in tandem with key academic calendar dates; ensure communication with and between departments regarding LMS issues.
  • Provides training in the use of institutions' LMS to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Provides help resources for students, faculty, and staff including instructional videos, how-to guides, and FAQs related to the usage of the learning management system.
  • Works directly with faculty, students, and staff to resolve technical issues: troubleshoots user issues with the LMS, monitors support requests, escalates problems as needed, resolves cross-system issues.
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of various instructional technologies.
  • Collaborates with others as needed to test and evaluate new features and tools that integrate with the LMS.
  • Provides training to faculty, students, and staff on the use of educational technologies.
  • Creates documentation and training materials for faculty in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Assessment & Faculty Support.
  • Serves as administrator of ticketing systems for the department.
  • Advises and assists faculty in designing online courses using instructional technologies and pedagogy, and in the use of the online LMS for all course types (synchronous and asynchronous).
  • Creates and conducts workshops and support sessions to help instructors adapt to online learning and optimize their use of LMS tools.
  • Provides one-on-one tech support for students and faculty, ensuring LMS accessibility for those with limited internet access.
  • Collaborates with the Accreditation Liaison Officer to provide accurate and appropriate information for internal and external reports.
  • Remains current with regional and national developments in distance education, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • Evaluates, develops, and documents processes, policies, and procedures and recommends changes as needed.
  • Contributes to the maintenance, development, and troubleshooting of the department's resources for teaching and learning.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the VP Academic Affairs.
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education or directly related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Three years experience in LMS administration, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Three years of directly related experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Educational/instructional design knowledge and/or experience.
  • Teaching experience.
