About The Position

INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL (ESL) / MIGRANT QUALIFICATIONS: Instructional assistants must have graduated from high school or hold a GED REPORTS TO: School Principal and/or Program Director and Teachers SUPERVISES: Not Applicable JOB GOAL: To perform a variety of skilled instructional functions in content development; to assist in the conduct of learning experiences; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks to aid instructional personnel. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning concepts and materials. Under the direct supervision of the teacher in the classroom environment, provide tutoring to individual and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up with learning activities. Monitor and assist students in skill development drills, practice, and study activities. Manage student behavior through the use of motivational and positive reinforcement strategies and techniques. Prepare a variety of materials and learning aids. Maintain a variety of records and files. Operate and assist students in the performance of a variety of instructional media, machines, and computer equipment. Assist in maintaining an orderly, attractive, and positive learning environment. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, which might include principal, program director, teacher or Superintendent. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work day to be determined by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Provisions of the of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
