About The Position

In accordance with the Master Agreement, written notice is hereby given for the following anticipated vacancy. ESL Title Paraprofessional Elementary 5.75 hrs/day, Student Days School Year Paraprofessional RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned) : Works independently with the student individually or in small groups to reinforce material initially introduced by the classroom teacher. Instructs students in basic subject matter specified in teacher provided written lesson plans. Develops a relationship with students that is sensitive, supportive, motivating and professional. Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior. Develops and maintains positive collaborative relationships with school personnel. Assists in the preparation and administration of appropriate instructional and evaluation materials. Maintains high level of ethical behavior, including confidentiality of information about students. Participates and becomes involved in building activities, inservice programs, and other activities as assigned by the teacher, principal. Exhibits positive personal characteristics. Provides appropriate discipline in keeping with the discipline policy/procedure established by the classroom teacher. Initiates and implements the teacher’s daily lesson plan for the student with minimal direction. Communicates effectively in written and verbal interactions with students. Is flexible with student learning and behavior difficulties, and any changes in student schedules. Presents learning activities in a fun and enthusiastic manner. Keeps in perspective that the teacher is responsible for developing the instructional plans for the classroom and all communications with parents and other staff about student performance, academically and behaviorally unless otherwise directed. Is dependable and on time in regard to daily schedule and routine. Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by classroom teacher.

Requirements

  • Two years of college or Associate’s (or higher) degree, confirmation of passing the MTTC basic skills test or WorkKeys skills test
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedural manuals.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical figures.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral form.
  • Ability to do problem solving.
  • Must show flexibility with a variety of daily tasks and interruptions.
  • Ability to prioritize issues and respond professionally and appropriately using sound judgment.
  • Must show a positive attitude and willingness to help others.
