About The Position

The Temple University Barnett College of Public Health Department of Health Services Administration and Policy invite applications for an Instructional Faculty position in Health Informatics, beginning Fall 2026. We seek an outstanding teacher and mentor who will contribute to our mission of academic excellence, innovative education, and inclusive student support. The successful candidate will demonstrate versatility in teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in health informatics, including computer programming for health data analytics using Python and/or R, applications of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and natural language processing (NLP) in healthcare, health data management, health application development, and clinical decision support systems. The faculty member will participate actively in program development and improvement; mentor and advise students with diverse student backgrounds, including in support of health informatics projects and capstone experiences; participate in the recruitment and review of applications for student admissions; attend regular health informatics program meetings and the department meetings, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure the curriculum remains innovative, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving field of health informatics, and engage in service to the department, College, university, and local or professional communities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, or related STEM discipline
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Commitment to creating inclusive, accessible spaces for all students

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach applied machine learning, NLP, and clinical decision support in healthcare
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students from different backgrounds in an inclusive setting, including in online teaching environments
  • Evidence of collaborative and interdisciplinary work

Responsibilities
