About The Position

Under the direction of a licensed staff member, assist students by helping individuals or small groups of students with basic curriculum work, implementing programming, reinforcing learning skills, and reinforcing discipline procedures. Assist classroom teachers by preparing classroom materials, monitoring students, and evaluating and recording student achievement. Safely using tools (both hand and power), measuring, cutting, building, planning etc. Candidates must be comfortable with all manner of lifting, squatting, climbing, and walking. A candidate does not have to possess an extensive construction background, however, one is helpful. Possession of an OSHA 10 certification is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
No experience required, however, construction background is helpful.
Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Intermediate English language skills.
Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
Advanced organizational skills.
Ability to work alone and with others.
Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities.
Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.

Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
OSHA 10-Hour Workplace Safety Training certification.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree.
Classroom/instructional work in an educational setting, licensed teaching, construction, infrastructure, or engineering experience.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
CPR and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc.
Assist with paperwork and documentation as needed.
Assist students with classroom activities.
Assist with curriculum delivery to both individuals and small groups to ensure mastering of subjects.
Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher, including typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, taking inventory, scheduling repairs and maintenance, data entry, word processing, laminating, ordering supplies, placing phone calls, materials distribution, and light bookkeeping.
Assist with other classroom events, such as field trips or fire drills, as necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Safety & Compliance: Models and enforces OSHA-standard safety protocols, ensuring students utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow rigorous shop safety procedures.
Technical Support: Assists students in mastering foundational skills, including structural framing, blueprint reading and tool identification and use.
Facility Management: Maintains shop cleanliness by maintaining a diverse inventory of industrial tools and machinery, and ensuring all workstations across the classroom bays are organized and operational.
Industry Modeling: Demonstrates professional tradecraft, helping students transition from classroom theory to the precision of skills required in the field.
