This position is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality training and resources, systems, and performance support for the Great Clips system and corporate employees. The Instructional Designer role works closely with other members of the instructional design team and Education Services staff to ensure training content meets the needs of all stakeholders.

  • Designing and developing online courses, instructional presentations, and supporting resources.
  • Providing user support for Great Clips University (GCU).
  • Collaborating with SMEs and the visual design team to create elearning courses, instructional presentations, and supplemental learning resources.
  • Using Storyline, PPT, and Word to create learning resources.
  • Participating in discovery meetings with product owners to determine business needs, project purpose, outcomes, and deliverables for simple and intermediate projects.
  • Creating and managing project plans and timelines for simple and intermediate projects.
  • Understanding the GCU user experience on both computer and iPad and troubleshooting issues in escalated Help Desk tickets.
  • Posting News items, publishing new content, updating existing content, running reports in the LMS, and participating in GCU testing as needed.
  • Staying informed of industry trends and emerging technologies and sharing best practices related to latest trends and technologies with the team.
  • Formal training or education in instructional design or a related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience working in an instructional design role.
  • Experience in the end-to-end life cycle of elearning development.
  • Strong working knowledge of andragogy and backward design.
  • Ability to effectively and consistently design online training using best practices in the e-learning industry.
  • Ability to distill large amounts of information down into only what is needed to meet course outcomes.
  • Above average skill in building interactive courses in Storyline.
  • Excellent oral communication, writing, and editing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and peers to deliver business results.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and produce quality work.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Teaching or training experience.
