About The Position

The Instructional Designer II at Texas A&M University's Mays Business School is responsible for creating, designing, and developing innovative online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content. This role involves collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts to enhance student engagement and interactivity in courses, ensuring alignment with instructional design best practices. The position also includes project management responsibilities and faculty development support, contributing to a vibrant learning environment for students and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in instructional design or related experience in K-12 education, higher education, adult learning, or training and development.
  • Knowledge of quality design standards such as Quality Matters or similar rubrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects collaboratively and professionally.
  • Ability to apply instructional design theories and best practices to develop high-quality learning content.

Nice To Haves

  • More than two years of experience in instructional design or related experience.
  • Experience curating, researching, writing, proofreading, and editing instructional materials.
  • Experience designing and implementing engaging online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content.
  • Experience interacting with faculty and students for support.
  • Proficiency in Canvas and contemporary learning technologies, including basic programming (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of project management best practices and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Independently meet with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop innovative learning content.
  • Facilitate the learning design process by developing learning objectives that align with course materials and assignments.
  • Create and curate accessible and engaging learning content that promotes active learning.
  • Design activities that promote interactivity among students and between students and instructors.
  • Build learning content in the TAMU Canvas environment.
  • Collaborate with faculty to locate and evaluate learning materials, including open educational resources (OER).
  • Provide training and resources on copyright and fair use topics.
  • Work with subject matter experts on planning media assets, including video, audio, and graphics.
  • Evaluate the quality of courses using a course quality rubric established by Mays Business School.
  • Monitor project progress, troubleshoot roadblocks, and communicate with the director about project status.
  • Develop guides and training materials to support faculty in the learning design process.
  • Provide training to faculty on the LMS and other digital learning tools.
