About The Position

Instructional Coach Summary The Instructional Coach is a key component in improving student achievement. The primary role of the instructional coach is to build teacher capacity by increasing the teacher’s understanding of the highest-leverage instructional practices and data-driven instruction. The primary responsibility of the instructional coach is to provide instructional support directly to teachers in the classroom, develop and deliver engaging professional development, order and ensure the usage of curriculum resources, and monitor the progress of teachers while providing continuous support. The instructional coach will work to promote teacher reflection, focus on teacher strengths, and collaborate on identified areas of need. This individual will serve both the full kindergarten through high school (K-12) population at either the Denver or Lincolnton campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the teaching, curriculum and instruction, or closely related field
  • Holds a current educator license
  • Independent worker with strong organizational and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and lead professional development for adult learners
  • Strong knowledge of best practice instructional practices as well as curriculum standards
  • A love of children
  • A strong commitment to quality college preparation
  • A willingness to model the Lincoln Charter Community Expectations: Honesty, Respect, Empathy, Responsibility, Service and Preparedness
  • Ability to build relationships and serve as a positive role model within the LCS community
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in literacy and mathematics
  • Preferred Master’s degree in the teaching, curriculum and instruction, or closely related field
  • Preferred eight to ten years of experience
  • Preferred three years of experience teaching in the classroom and leadership experience as a teacher

Responsibilities

  • Implements and models effective communication between building administrators, teachers, and MTSS coaches to ensure collaboration in the development of teachers in the classroom
  • Provide guidance, reflection, modeling, co-teaching, co-planning, and consistent feedback to teachers in need
  • This individual will ensure the confidentiality of all teachers and students as they work collaboratively to support the growth and development of identified teachers
  • This is not a supervisory position and does not include evaluative responsibilities
  • Provide direction, consultation, and support to instructional teaching staff
  • Train and guide staff on the identified areas of need for the purpose of achieving increased academic growth, higher teacher retention, and professional satisfaction
  • Advise Building Administrators, MTSS Coaches, and Director of Academics on information relating to an identified need for instructional support, staffing changes, and selection of curriculum materials
  • Develop the bi-weekly PLC agenda for all grade-level teams to focus on the growth and development of student academics
  • Lead the bi-weekly PLC meetings with the primary focus on the academic growth and development of all students
  • Order, monitor, and audit the annual curriculum resource needs of teachers at all developmental levels
  • Provides feedback in the usage of selected curriculum to fidelity to MTSS Coaches and Director of Academics
  • Create instructional support tools for teachers as needed
  • Actively participate in the annual curriculum resource selection committee, new curriculum training, and full implementation of the new curriculum materials
  • Develop and lead targeted professional development for staff in specialized instructional strategies and techniques to support the overall strengthening of instruction in the classroom
  • Serve identified teachers by coaching, modeling, monitoring and collaboratively planning to achieve the growth and development of teaching staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
