About The Position

The Instructional Building Substitute (IBS) is an essential part of the school community, ensuring that learning continues smoothly when classroom teachers are absent. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Ability to take the initiative and work independently
Ability to de-escalate behaviors; Calm, neutral demeanor
Reliable and well-organized with sound judgment
Effective oral and written communication

Responsibilities

Step into classrooms and deliver lessons prepared by teachers across subjects such as math, English language arts, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education.
Create a welcoming and structured environment that helps students stay on track even when their teacher is away.
Support student engagement by using a variety of teaching and classroom management strategies.
Cover assignments of up to two weeks in a single class, ensuring consistency but also bringing variety to your teaching experiences.
When not covering for a teacher's absence, follow a scheduled plan to "push in" and support classrooms needing extra assistance - particularly in subjects like science, social studies, art, music, and physical education.
Work side by side with classroom teachers to reinforce instruction, provide small group or individual student support, and contribute to the overall success of the learning environment.
Encourage students not only in academics but also in building confidence, creativity, and positive character.
Be a steady and reliable presence in the school each day, offering continuity for both students and staff
Manage oneself by being organized, prepared, and punctual
