About The Position

POSITION AVAILABLE: Instructional Assistant - Special Education 8 AM - 2:30 PM 6 HOURS/10 MONTHS WASHINGTON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Requirements

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year experience working with school age children in organization setting or learning environment.
• Must have completed two years of higher education study or obtained an associate's degree or higher.
• Ability to assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
• Must have a Valid CPR & First Aid certificate, possession of a valid California's Class C driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children with Autism and related disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
• Assist students with personal hygiene; wash hands and faces; toilet students and change diapers and clothing as necessary; assist students with eating activities.
• Lift students in and out orthopedic equipment, position and reposition students as needed.
• Monitor, observe and report student behavior and progress according to approved policies and procedures.
• Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities.
• Learn guidelines and materials related to the reading program as assigned by the position.
