About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. This is a non-tenure-track instructional assistant professor (3-year appointment with the potential of renewal based on annual evaluations and performance). Primary duties will include teaching undergraduate courses for the Psychology program, and graduate courses for the Counseling Psychology program. Providing individual and group clinical supervision for practicum and internship students. Supporting Counseling Psychology graduate students in meeting licensure requirements as outlined by MPCAC and TBHEC. Duties also include participation in program-related activities, including admissions, student advising, orientation, and community and university outreach, as well as service on departmental, university, and professional committees; and active participation in departmental, college, and university initiatives. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Department of Psychology and Communication offers a BA in Psychology, an MS in Psychology, and a MA in Counseling Psychology.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field, at the time of appointment.
  • An active clinical license (LPC or LP) to practice counseling and supervise students in the State of Texas is also required.
