About The Position

Make a Difference at Grand Canyon University Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, the College of Natural Sciences provides an outlet for innovation and cross-disciplinary exposure. It also features pre-professional degrees in biology, alongside our degrees in microbiology, physics, and a forensic science and exercise science program. This is a face-to-face part time opportunity. MUST be available to come to the main campus. This position is a part-time Teaching Assistant position. Course: General Chemistry An introduction to the principles of chemistry; designed for students without a strong background in science. Topics covered include a survey of the chemical and physical properties of elements and compounds, chemical reactions, chemical energetics, acids and bases, and chemical bonding. An introduction to organic and biochemistry emphasizes the relationship between molecular structure and function.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution on date of application submission.
  • Must have sufficient course credits in Chemistry with a B or better grade

Responsibilities

  • Assist instruction with in-class activities, including proctoring examinations.
  • Observes students’ performance, and records relevant data to aid instructor in assessing progress
  • Coordinates study groups outside of class to tutor students on class material
  • May facilitate additional ad hoc lectures as a refresher to classroom formal lecture
  • Assists with grading assignments
  • Proctors occasional make up examinations/assignments
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
