About The Position

The Institutional Research Analyst will work closely with IRRIS staff to manage and analyze data supporting institutional decision-making, data requests, and federal and state reporting. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work with large datasets, develop coding skills and contribute to institutional reporting. Please be advised, this is a 2-year position, with the possibility of renewal.

Requirements

  • Master's in social sciences, information sciences, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent
  • Experience with SPSS or similar statistical software packages (R or SAS) to organize and analyze large datasets.
  • Experience producing and maintaining detailed documentation of all work.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically when working with data to identify errors, develop creative solutions
  • Proven ability to complete complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate in a team environment and effectively give and receive feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in SPSS, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with Drupal or similar website editing platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, merge, document, and otherwise prepare data from multiple sources to generate datasets using SPSS or similar tools.
  • Analyze data and produce descriptive statistics using SPSS, Excel or other statistical software.
  • Summarize trends in data for both external and internal stakeholders through reports, Tableau dashboards, and infographics.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for institutional data such as state and federal reports, dashboards, datasets, statistical analyses and other outputs.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of student and faculty data and serve as a data steward for the university.
  • Clearly communicate data and information to campus stakeholders.
  • Interact with subject matter experts, data analysts, and IT programmers to understand data structure, assumptions, methodology, business rules, and limitations.
  • Serve as a liaison with units across the university to assess data and reporting needs.
  • Clearly communicate university business processes to facilitate use of institutional data and reports.
  • Follow and develop departmental protocols to support team members and contribute to the overall success of projects.
  • Exhibit patience, flexibility, positivity, attentiveness and a willingness to learn in all professional interactions.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
