About The Position

Summary/Objectives The Installation Supervisor is to handle all aspects of the installation process associated with a store. This includes scheduling, handling complaints and claims and otherwise being responsible for dealing with both employed and contract installers. In addition, this individual is responsible for communicating with customers regarding the installation process. Requirements Essential Functions The Installation Supervisor has the following specific responsibilities: 1. Maintain a schedule for installation jobs. 2. Ensure that all members of the installation staff comply with store and company policy, specifically as it relates to the dress code and professional appearance. 3. Establish a list of qualified sub-contractors who can be retained to perform installation jobs. 4. Ensure that all sub-contractors submit all required paperwork necessary to perform work contracted for by Great Floors. 5. Meet regularly with sub-contract installers to review procedures which must be followed in order to perform work for Great Floors. 6. Review customer claims and complaints and supervise their resolution with installers and/or manufacturers. 7. Participate in regular staff meetings with other store department heads for the purpose of monitoring and improving store performance. 8. Promote customer relations by ensuring that entire installation staff interacts professionally with customers. 9. Ensure that safety procedures and practices are followed by all members of the installation staff. Standards of Performance The Installation Supervisor will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following criteria have been met or exceeded: 1. Installations are accurately scheduled and customers communicated with in a professional manner regarding the schedule. 2. Staff members are supervised in such a manner that they perform quickly and efficiently with a minimum of slack time and/or overtime. 3. Interaction with support staff and salespeople is such that the entire store operates at a high level of efficiency. 4. Customer complaints are handled in a professional manner. 5. A list of qualified installation subcontractors is maintained and installers properly assigned to jobs within their area of competence. 6. Installation staff members receive regular performance reviews. 7. All required support has been offered so as to improve on a consistent and regular basis the satisfaction of customers with the installation process. Competencies 1. Capable of using analytical and observational skills to oversee and direct the installation functions of a retail floor covering store. 2. Basic computer skills needed to review orders and verify inventory 3. Can effectively communicate with, direct, coordinate and control the activities of personnel related to the installation process. 4. Able to interface with installers and all other store personnel. 5. Well-developed knowledge of floor covering products and all aspects of installing a variety of floor covering products. 6. Ability to communicate with customers both by phone and in person. 7. Good organizational and scheduling skills. Supervisory Responsibility The Installation Supervisor is given necessary authority to manage and administer the following basic functions of this position: · With the approval of the Branch Manager; hire, fire, evaluate and discipline all personnel reporting to the department. · In conjunction with the Branch Manager establish goals and procedures for the installation staff. · Take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, so long as it is consistent with established company policy and sound business judgment. Work Environment · A high volume retail floor covering facility with included warehouse. Physical Demands · Standing, walking, sitting, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching, and turning as required to operate equipment, interface with staff and customers, and oversee operations. · Use of all body senses to perform computer data entry, answer phones, and communicate with staff, customers, installers and vendor representatives. · Must follow company policy with regard to dress and otherwise maintain a professional appearance. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Travel Local travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience A minimum three (3) years installation or equivalent experience Preferred Education and Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent Installation supervision experience Additional Eligibility Qualifications 1. Computer skills as may be required to operate the industry specific software required to deal with orders, run required reports and perform all other tasks as required. 2. Can effectively manage and supervise a diverse group of employees. 3. Knowledgeable in all aspects of the floor covering business including product knowledge and installation. 4. Proficient in typing, data entry and the operation of all required office equipment. 5. Able to work effectively and professionally with all store customers including retail, commercial and builder.
