BW Papersystems is looking for an experienced Inspector to join our team! In this role, the Inspector will plan, layout and perform inspection duties on a wide variety of purchased, first-piece and in-process inspection of production parts and components. Work involves precision inspection and gauging operations to very close tolerances requiring different difficult inspection setups and the use of a coordinate measuring machine as well as a variety of precision measuring instruments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with practical training comparable to a formal apprenticeship or have a 2-year degree in related field
  • 1+ years of working experience in industrial machinery inspection, or quality assurance experience
  • Experience with inspection techniques that include CMM operation.
  • Possess effective communication and people skills, having the ability to work with other departments including, but not limited to, Engineering, Supply Chain, Machine Ship, Assembly, and suppliers.
  • Capable of multi-tasking various duties throughout the day, having the ability to adapt and be versatile and flexible within their schedule.
  • Experience utilizing different computer programs (Microsoft 365 Programs, MAPICS, CAD software).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, layout, and performing inspection duties on a wide variety of purchased, first-piece and in process inspection of production parts and components.
  • Work from complex drawings, specifications, and instructions to plan and perform inspection of product – parts and components.
  • Perform simple geometric measurements and check dimensions, angles, surfaces, radii, holes, threads, and other features for adherence to specifications.
  • Explain measurement methods to suppliers for consistency.
  • Work closely with engineering to clarify tolerance acceptability.
  • Work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Perform various duties as assigned or directed.
