About The Position

This is a Career Service Inspector position located at Union Correctional Institution, reporting to the Office of the Inspector General, Bureau of Internal Affairs Region 3. The mission of the Office of the Inspector General at the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect and promote public integrity and accountability within the Department through investigations, audits, and inspections. The aim is to detect and prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, ensuring that the Department operates efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct. This position is not a telework position and requires reporting to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Correctional Officer, Correctional Probation Office Certification as issued from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission
  • Must possess at least three (3) years of full-time experience as a Correctional Officer, Correctional Probation Officer
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess one (1) years of investigative experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducting/leading complex investigations involving waste, fraud and abuse, public corruption, serious employee misconduct, and whistleblower investigations
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of OIG investigations/inquiries
  • Ensuring investigations are carried out consistent with and pursuant to IG Directives & FDC Policies and Procedures
  • Following investigative procedures or directives
  • Interviewing complainants, witnesses, and subjects related to alleged violations of state law or departmental procedures
  • Writing and reviewing final reports containing investigative reports
  • Planning, leading, investigating and conducting, administrative (internal affairs or OIG), financial and public corruption investigations
  • Comprehensive whistleblower reviews and related investigations pursuant to FSS 112.3187, known as the Florida Whistle-blower's Act
  • Coordination of IG investigations with the Office of the Chief Inspector General, Executive Office of the Governor
