About The Position

Inspector I is an entry-level role designed to build a strong foundation in inspection and quality processes. In this position, the inspector develops a working knowledge of how to inspect incoming materials from suppliers, in-process product, and finished assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, tolerances, internal procedures, and customer requirements. The Inspector I plays a critical role in protecting product quality and integrity while learning how quality standards are applied across the manufacturing lifecycle. This role operates under the direct guidance and mentorship of a more senior inspector (Inspector II or above), providing structured development and hands-on experience in a controlled environment. External candidates will receive a $1,000 sign on bonus.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Inspection experience preferred
  • Basic proficiency in shop math, geometry, and algebra.
  • Basic proficiency with detailed drawings including geometric tolerances, dimensions, general features and blueprint reading.
  • General computer skills (E-mail, internet, basic MS office including excel).
  • Basic proficiency in verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to learn how to utilize gaging including attribute and variable gages.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of the Quality Management System, including internal requirements and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing knowledge including the techniques, tools, and principles and processes involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to coordinate and manage shipment of final product.
  • Learn how to prepare to inspect by interpreting blueprints, data, and manuals to determine specifications, inspections and testing procedures.
  • Review paperwork to ensure completion and accuracy of all documents including routers, flow card, First Articles, etc. with oversight
  • Learn how to inspect product to verify conformance to specification of the parts by measuring dimensions using instruments such as gages, calipers, comparators micrometers, etc.
  • Learn how to oversee customer requirements audit system.
  • Works under immediate supervision. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
  • Develops basic job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Tasks are routine/ repetitive in nature, requiring limited judgment. Has little or no role in decision-making.
  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
  • Over 40 hours per week as scheduled to meet business needs.
  • All other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours
