We are seeking a motivated, and technically-talented individual, who has a true desire to lead in a dynamic operations environment to support our Quality Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing Departments. In this role you will be providing direction to employees while developing Team Leads, Technicians, and Inspectors through effective coaching, communication, and training. This position requires innovative approaches to problem solving and the ability to develop timely action plans for resolution while driving the tactical execution of the quality management system.

Requirements

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • Substantial Manufacturing Quality experience in lieu of degree can also be considered.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts

Nice To Haves

  • Consistent track record in leadership roles
  • Understanding of conventional Quality related inspection, NDT, CMM, calibration and other machine shop inspection process and procedures
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems and user of MRP/ERP/SAP systems used in production control, planning, manufacturing execution, and MRB
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data, such as manufacturing or part drawings, to provide guidance to cross functional teams.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, AS9102, & ISO
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, external customers, and government agencies
  • Six Sigma or ASQ Certification

Responsibilities

  • Leader of all Quality Inspectors and Nondestructive Testing Technicians across 5 shifts
  • Provide direction to Quality Supervisors on the day-to-day quality and production deliverables and initiatives, to include prioritization and completion of parts through the shop.
  • Provide leadership and direction in response to rapid changes in production requirements.
  • Manage the overall Hiring and Training Plan for all of Inspection and NDT to ensure timely certifications to meet the business need.
  • Engage with Core NDT and the local Quality Training Coordinator to oversee the Quality Training program, to include Quality University classroom courses and scheduling of required training for Level 2 NDT technicians.
  • Manage the Asheville Inspection stamp program by working with Core Quality to proactively assign DX, FX, FPI, and X-Ray stamps to certified individuals within Solumina.
  • Engage with Core Quality and DT to perform UAT (user acceptance testing) in order to fully implement and manage Fiori for QN Creation and Management across the Asheville site.
  • Monitor pending Q (defect identification) levels across the shop floor through use of PowerBI in order to assess and deploy Inspection resources effectively month over month.
  • Achieve target performance levels through disciplined execution of the Standard Production System (SPS) including but not limited to: Tiered accountability, Visual management system(s), Leader Standard Work, Rapid identification of root cause and effective implementation of corrective actions.
  • Communicate requirements to peers at supporting processes (Operations, Materials, Engineering, MRB, MCL, etc.) to ensure smooth process flow.
  • Drive World-class safety culture and respond to all EH&S requirements promptly.
  • Lead employee engagement and continuous improvement efforts.
