About The Position

This is a base salary plus commission position Responsibilities include qualifying new sales opportunities, building a pipeline of prospective customers, and closing lease transactions in our small to medium size customer segment. We are looking for a self-motivated sales professional with a passion for customer service and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment. This position will be based at our Chicago location and reports into the Commercial organization.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the North American rail industry, railcar types and their commodity applications
  • Understanding of operating lease terms and conditions
  • Ability to negotiate contract terms.
  • Excellent sales ability with a focus on long-term relationship building.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Cold calling skills are a must.
  • Strong Salesforce skills required.
  • Some travel to visit customers and industry conferences is required.
  • 3 plus years of comparable or relevant experience in the rail and or logistics industry
  • Strong knowledge of the Rail sector and ability to discuss market dynamics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce.com or comparable CRM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and enhance relationships withs new and existing small to medium size customers.
  • Propose and negotiate lease terms and conditions.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service team to ensure customers’ needs and expectations are met.
  • Effectively use the Salesforce.com CRM tool to manage call reports, opportunities, customer, and market information
  • Maintain and update the Commercial Events’ Calendar as needed.
  • Develop and execute a sales business plan that will achieve corporate revenue goals.
