Meyer Distributing is looking for a Sales Category Manager - Trailer and Towing to join our Jasper, IN team. This Sales Category Manager- Trailer and towing position is responsible providing your client with customer focused insights regarding the product and category. Creating and developing a long term plan and strategy for development of the category.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
  • Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • An ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics
  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and team management skills
  • Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Minimum of one month on the job training required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent of years in experience
  • Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Foster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
  • Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility
  • Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
  • Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories
  • Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
  • Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category
  • Assists with the planning of sales exhibits.
  • Attends trade shows.
  • Participates in education and training conferences on selling and marketing programs.
  • Coordinates and assists in leading sales meetings to include site selection and agenda preparation.
  • Keeps informed of new products, services and other general information of interest to customers.
  • Checks on competitive activity and develops new methods of attaining resellers and assisting resellers in attaining new accounts.
  • Manage a team of salespeople and ensure company standards are upheld
