About The Position

Requirements

  • A registered pharmacist who is a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a current Nebraska state license required.
  • BLS certified within 90 days of transfer or hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Improves patient care by managing drug therapy according to the patient population served.
  • Reviews medications and collaborates with healthcare team to ensure appropriate medication management.
  • Evaluates medication selection, dosage, route, frequency, cost effectiveness, and duration of therapy.
  • Evaluates orders for drug interactions (drug-drug, allergy, drug-disease, drug-lab and drug-food).
  • Evaluates the medication profile for therapeutic duplications.
  • Prepares and dispenses medication in a manner that ensures accuracy, safety, regulatory adherence, quality and integrity of the drug product in a timely manner.
  • Supervises the work of supportive pharmacy personnel.
  • Provides clinical pharmacy services through consultations, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and clinical intervention tracking.
  • Detects, monitors, and reports adverse drug events and medication errors.
  • Provides medication counseling and education to patients, families, and front-line staff.
  • Participates in the medication reconciliation process.
  • Supports drug purchaser in managing drug shortages and medication supply chain.
  • Tracks and monitors controlled drug discrepancies and medication overrides.
  • Carries out technician responsibilities (automated dispensing cabinet stocking, compounding, etc.) on shifts when support staff are unavailable.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by Boys Town and the State of Nebraska.
  • Completes all required trainings and pharmacy specific competencies in a timely matter.
  • Actively promotes and supports the Boys Town Mission.
  • Fosters a healthy relationship between the department of pharmacy and the hospital.
  • Fosters a healthy relationship within the department of pharmacy.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
