About The Position

The Inpatient Coder Level 3 is a seniorlevel position responsible for coding higplexity inpatient records with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires expertlevel kledge of ICD10CM and ICD10PCS coding systems, MSDRG and APRDRG assignment, andprehensive understanding of clinical documentation. The Level 3 coder ensures codingpliance, supports training and mentoring of junior staff, and contributes to audit and quality improvement efforts within the HIM department.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in HIT or related field
  • 5+ years of inpatient coding experience
  • CIC Certification

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficient understanding ofplex clinical scenarios, includingorbidities andplications.
  • Analyze detailed clinical documentation to identify relevant clinical indicators ensuring coding accuracy.
  • Perform and respond to physician documentation queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • advanced kledge of ICD10CM and ICD10PCS coding systems.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and perform basic auditing to maintainpliance.
  • Exhibit strong problemsolving and critical thinking skills in coding and documentation review.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare teams to clarify documentation.
  • Work independently while meeting and maintaining established productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Assist in mentoring Level I coders or onboarding new team members as needed.
