About The Position

As the Inpatient APP Manager, you will lead and manage a team of APPs across two distinct CVICU units: the Medical CVICU and Surgical CVICU. This role requires a balance of clinical expertise and administrative leadership, with responsibilities split evenly between clinical (50%) and administrative (50%) duties. You will oversee two teams, each with different workflows and cost centers, spanning the 6th and 7th floors of the Critical Care Tower. This is a unique opportunity to lead in a dynamic environment where critical care excellence and innovation are paramount. You will work closely with dedicated APP team leads and multidisciplinary medical teams to optimize operations, enhance patient care delivery, and support scholarly activities.

Requirements

  • Tennessee State License: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Education: Master's Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) / Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Minimum of 3+ years as an APP, ideally in an ICU setting (CVICU background strongly preferred).
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience managing teams in a critical care environment.
  • Experience working across multiple ICU settings strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in optimizing clinical operations and care delivery on a unit level.
  • Demonstrated interest and involvement in quality improvement and scholarly projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee APPs across both the Medical and Surgical CVICU units, ensuring high standards of care and operational efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to APP team leads and their respective teams.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, heart failure physicians, and intensivists to support patient care delivery models tailored to each unit.
  • Actively participate in clinical care (50% of the role), delivering expert patient care in a CVICU setting.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and optimize clinical workflows at the unit level.
  • Support and contribute to scholarly activities, promoting evidence-based practices.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for the Surgical CVICU expansion set for October 2026
