About The Position

The Innovation Program Manager for Asphalt & Roads will lead the design, validation, and execution of innovation initiatives aligned with the company's strategic roadmap for future mobility, paving solutions, and sustainable road infrastructure. Reporting directly to the VP of Innovation, this role will connect strategy to execution, transforming technical insights into scalable projects with real business impact. This role is based at our Corporate office in the Perimeter area of Atlanta, GA - hybrid work schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline (advanced degree strongly recommended).
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in asphalt materials, road construction, pavement engineering, or related industries.
  • Proven track record across the product development cycle, from concept through pilot and commercialization.
  • Strong technical knowledge of asphalt mix design, bitumen chemistry, pavement performance, and emerging sustainable technologies (e.g., recycling, warm mix, additives, alternative binders, fuels).
  • Ability to build partnerships with startups, universities, and technology providers.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing across multiple business units.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills, able to connect R&D with business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of project proposals for asphalt and road innovation, ensuring alignment with the strategic roadmap.
  • Engage with operating companies and business units to validate needs, refine proposals, and secure sponsorship from business leaders.
  • Support Ventures and other functions in evaluating technologies and opportunities brought by startups, universities, and research institutions to validate and scale up technology.
  • Define detailed project execution plans, including objectives, scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Conduct early technical and scientific evaluations to confirm feasibility and optimize scope.
  • Coordinate SME and expert reviews to finalize proposals and prepare for approval.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of executive presentations to secure project funding.
  • Manage active projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring technical, financial, and strategic alignment.
