About The Position

Tulsa Innovation Labs, LLC (TIL) is a tech-led economic development organization headquartered in Tulsa, OK pioneered by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. The organization is responsible for catalyzing Tulsa’s leadership in advanced industries such as energy tech, advanced air mobility, virtual health, and cyber. We believe that by building a world-class tech hub in America’s heartland, we unlock opportunity for all. The organization was founded in January 2020 and has already experienced significant momentum including its $38.2M Build Back Better Regional Challenge win and EDA Tech Hubs Designation. Now, TIL is emerging from startup-phase and has established itself as a system hub and community leader, requiring additional emphasis on scaling-up operations and organizational capacity. Tulsa Innovation Labs, LLC seeks an Innovation Analyst to define and drive the technology product vision, ensuring strategic alignment and consensus among key stakeholders to drive impactful decision-making. Design and develop deal flow interface based on database platforms to periodically share targeted technology opportunities with key stakeholders and collect feedback. Develop case studies on startup progress, industry insights, and partner innovation priorities related to emerging technologies. Identify and analyze emerging technologies to align with strategic company priorities. Prepare detailed investment memos and techno-economic analyses. Collaborate with innovation and business intelligence teams to identify strategic technology priorities and craft technology investment theses that align with market needs.

Requirements

  • Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering or a related technical field, and 1 year of software engineering and product development experience.
  • Experience must include 1 year with each of the following: evaluating emerging technologies; supporting business development towards commercialization; technology product development and project management for new initiatives from inception to completion, optimizing for resource allocation and quality of execution; evaluating models to interpret data trends; and analyzing and interpreting large data sets.
  • Telecommuting is available up to 2 days per week.
  • Possesses a solid technical or engineering background, essential for understanding and navigating the complexities of our portfolio technologies.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen ability to identify and capitalize on emerging technological trends.
  • Strong capability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and strategic alignment across diverse teams.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs., for lifting supplies and materials, as needed.
  • Position continually requires the ability to talk and hear both in person and over the phone, visual acuity; ability to operate equipment, read, and use a keyboard.
  • This position is located in Tulsa, OK.
  • The office space is located at Fifth Floor, 100 S Cincinnati Ave, Tulsa, OK 74103.
  • Travel regionally, nationally, and internationally required up to 25% of the time.
  • Need regular access to a vehicle that can be used for in-state travel.
  • Must maintain a valid passport.

Responsibilities

  • Investment Thesis Development: Collaborate with corporate partners' innovation and business intelligence teams to identify strategic priorities and craft compelling investment theses that align with market needs.
  • Industry-Academia Connect: Serve as a crucial bridge between our network of over 40 universities and corporate partners, identifying commercially viable innovations and fostering industry-informed development.
  • Due Diligence: Partner with founders and Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs) to evaluate emerging technologies, assess market viability, and prepare detailed investment memos and techno-economic analyses.
  • Product Vision & Stakeholder Engagement: Define and lead the product vision for our portfolio startups, ensuring strategic alignment and consensus among key stakeholders to drive impactful decision-making.
  • External Partnerships: Collaborate with sustainability-focused companies, local governments, and other strategic partners to enhance and support the initiatives under the TIL / Rose Rock Bridge umbrella.
  • Other duties as assigned.
