About The Position

Under the direction of the Inmate Services Section Supervisor, this position performs various record keeping and physical custody duties associated with the monitoring and safeguarding of inmate property and clerical duties required to intake and release inmates, process and maintain computer records and detention files.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of booking/court/bonding paperwork and processes.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to operate computers and commonly used computer software programs, as well as any other standard office equipment as required by position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to recognize and use alpha and numeric arrangements quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal to accurately input data and maintain a high attention to detail and subtle irregularities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Sheriff's Office staff members, the public, inmates, court officials and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to safely operate a county vehicle in normal and adverse conditions.
  • Capacity for developing and/or adapting to new ideas and changing conditions.
  • Ability to apply sound reasoning and decision-making.
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • No specific requirement.
  • Must be able to obtain Notary Public certification.
  • Must be able to type 25 wpm corrected.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Must possess CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within the initial status period.
  • Must be able to obtain NCIC/CCIC certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of customer service to include data entry, answering phones and general accounting and/or inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Determines property storage and packing of property based on the stability and sensitivity of the item(s), i.e., spoilage, biohazard, money, etc.
  • Processes inmate property releases and property intakes.
  • Processes notary services for inmate legal documents.
  • ICE and Consulate notification.
  • Manages Front Lobby Reception Desk to include contact with bondsmen, public, attorneys, volunteers, vendors and staff members.
  • Manages visitation by setting visitation hours, signing in and verifying visitors and directing visitors to the visitation area.
  • Coordinates, verifies and logs bond information and processes checks for court.
  • Restocks the laundry supplies for booking/receiving.
  • Maintains and reconciles inmate trust accounts and cash reports.
  • Uses manual and automated systems to track various types of information and sensitive documents.
  • Compiles data from court appearance records, returns records, and warrant pick-ups.
  • Maintains files and sorts various paperwork, records, and legal documents as required by assignment on daily, monthly, or annual basis.
  • Operates computers and standard office equipment including commonly used.
  • Verifies and enters information into the computer JMS from custody documents to include inmate’s personal and charge information, property inventory, and court dates.
  • Obtains required copies of legal documents, recognizes, and understands procedures for processing legal documents.
  • Maintains outside agency only files to efficiently transfer inmates to their proper jurisdiction.
  • Identifies bond amounts with criminal statutes and bond schedules.
  • Completes NCIC/CCIC records checks, entries, and teletypes.
  • Locates, confirms and retrieves warrants.
  • Generates and maintains inmate detention file.
  • Answers telephones and provides information to external and internal customers.
  • Trains others as required.
  • Is committed to a high standard of safety laws and all the Sheriff's Office policies and procedures and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
  • Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as determined at the Sheriff's Office discretion.
  • Performs duties onsite, except those job duties that are customarily or by nature performed offsite.
  • Follows and supports the mission, values, organizational philosophies, operational principals, code of conduct, and policies and procedures of the Sheriff's Office.
  • Interacts effectively with others and exercises good judgment when dealing with people in sensitive situations.
  • Perform duties regularly assigned to the ISS Supervisor level in the absence of the ISS Supervisor as a temporary duty.
  • May be assigned other duties as necessary.
