The Inmate Services Technician (SO) performs specialized administrative and accounting work for the Detention Services Division of the Sheriff's Office. This position serves as the first level for intake of arrestees, inmate money and property, and maintains jail records throughout the inmate’s incarceration. This position is responsible for calculating an inmate’s release date in accordance with applicable statutes, as well as determining whether an inmate is eligible for release from custody. This position schedules court appearances and prepares various documents and reports for the courts and other governmental agencies. This position is required to notify victims, other County agencies, municipalities, or health facilities of inmate releases. This position is also responsible for, analyzing, monitoring and updating the custody status, charges, bonds, and cash account balances for inmates throughout their incarceration, which results in interaction with inmate detainees. Employee is responsible for balancing average daily deposits. Utilizes multiple computer-based systems to enter, retrieve information relative to the inmate population, and to compile statistical data. Work also involves collecting cash from the general-public and inmates, preparing deposits. This position is tasked with answering incoming calls; receiving the public for inmate issues or problems; and authorizing and monitoring non-professional visits for inmate detainees. This position is subject to the usual hazards of contact with jail inmates.
