The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Positions: 60069415-Region East 600665397-Region West The primary purpose of the Offender Disciplinary Hearing Officer (DHO) is to conduct hearings on acts of misconduct referred by facility wardens and other designated staff. The offender disciplinary procedures provide for due process reviews of acts of misconduct, documentation of relevant testimony, evaluation of evidence, and case-by-case decisions in compliance with custodial and security parameters within the division, as well as legally mandated rules. DHO exercises total responsibility, ensuring that all hearings and decisions are in complete compliance with divisional policy as well as statutory and other constitutionally mandated requirements. DHO is also charged with staff development and training responsibilities concerning the disciplinary process, to include audit of reports.
