About The Position

Assisting in the administration and management of the tooling process, working with cutting dies and print plates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • To apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge and experience with the ink kitchen system.

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all production demands for cutting die, print plates and ink are fulfilled as a first priority.
  • Works alongside the Operators. Help pull tooling for orders when needed. Perform daily checks on red tagged tooling to ensure they are repaired quickly.
  • Be trained on basic Cutting Die and Print Plate repair in order to assist when needed.
  • Pre/post inspection of cutting dies – pre-inspect and tag cutting dies once a shift
  • All die coordinators must be qualified to inspect and recognize tooling that needs to be repaired, replaced or revised.
  • Makes sure next shift is set up for the day in terms of ink and tooling related needs.
  • Machine scheduled walk through –verify all items that are planned are at the machines. All other tooling should be pulled, inspected and returned to proper locations.
  • All shifts are required to pull and put away cutting dies as it is returned from the machines. If dies are too large or too heavy to handle alone, get someone to assist.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs at any given time.
  • Pull a printing plate backlog once a shift. All items must be inspected and staged if they meet requirements.
  • Coordinating repairs of Cutting Die and Print Plates
  • Then notify Superintendent and Supervisors of the status of the tooling ‘In-House Repair’ or ‘Outside Repair.’
  • Ensures all Tooling Department areas are kept clean daily.
  • Works on special projects as assigned by Management.
  • Must be able to work well independently.
  • Order tooling and supplies when needed.
