About The Position

The Molding Maintenance Technician is responsible for complex mold maintenance and a wide range of tool room operations related to the maintenance, repair, and modification of injection molds and injection molding equipment. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in injection molding
  • Ability to operate tool room equipment such as grinders and mills (preferred)
  • Experience handling, fitting, and maintaining tight-tolerance mold components
  • Ability to read and interpret part and tool prints
  • Proficient in disassembly, assembly, and general maintenance of injection molds
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair tooling issues on the production floor
  • Experience identifying and implementing tooling improvements
  • Continuous Improvement experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in an ISO 9001:2008–certified company
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and a team-oriented professional
  • Ability to follow all safety guidelines on the production floor
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Flexibility to adjust schedules to meet production and engineering needs
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Consistent adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Use of hands for handling tools, equipment, and controls

  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves

Responsibilities

  • Perform problem-solving and develop corrective actions for customer issues and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Repair and rebuild injection molds, coordinating welding, machining, polishing, and finishing to required surface specifications
  • Fit, assemble, and test completed molds to ensure proper operation
  • Verify conformance of repaired molds and tooling by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments using precision measuring equipment
  • Read and interpret mold drawings and recommend design improvements
  • Operate overhead crane equipment to remove or relocate molds as needed
  • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of all tool room equipment
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
  • Respond promptly to production issues with corrective mechanical or technical solutions
  • Maintain positive employee relations while adhering to company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices
  • Assist the Senior Molding Maintenance Technician in managing and implementing maintenance functions
  • Ensure product safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to quality systems
  • Report potential food safety, quality, legality, or food defense concerns to plant management or quality personnel
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
