About The Position

The Registered Nurse – Same Day Services – Infusions is a clinical practitioner responsible for the coordination and delivery of outpatient infusion therapy while functioning as an integrated member of the Same Day Services nursing team. This role provides safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and the scope of practice established by the State of Washington. The primary focus of this position is infusion therapy; however, the Registered Nurse also supports Same Day Services workflows and patient care activities based on operational needs, competency, and staffing models. The nurse cares for a mixed adult and pediatric population and practices with a balance of independent clinical judgment and team-based collaboration, utilizing standing orders, clinical protocols, and defined escalation pathways. The Registered Nurse demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pullman Regional Hospital, relationship-based care principles, and the goals of Same Day Services and the organization. The Registered Nurse functions as a core Same Day Services team member and is expected to participate fully in weekday Same Day nursing responsibilities based on competency and operational need. In addition to direct infusion nursing responsibilities, this position includes designated Infusion Care Coordination duties. A portion of the role is allocated to ensuring infusion therapy plans are complete, current, and clearly defined prior to treatment. The Registered Nurse functions as a clinical resource and point of coordination for infusion therapy planning, order clarity, and care continuity, working closely with providers, pharmacy, and the Same Day Services team.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in good standing in the State of Washington.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire and maintained.
  • Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at time of hire and maintained.
  • Active Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification at time of hire and maintained.
  • Demonstrates the technical and clinical skills required of a Registered Nurse in an outpatient infusion and Same Day Services setting.
  • Ability to recognize, assess, and respond to infusion-related adverse events and medical emergencies.
  • Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to practice independently using standing orders and escalation pathways while remaining highly collaborative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention, medication safety, and quality improvement principles.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to support multiple Same Day Services workflows as needed based on competency.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Preferred experience with infusion care coordination and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary nursing resource for infusion therapy coordination within Same Day Services.
  • Ensure infusion therapy plans are current, complete, and clearly defined prior to scheduled treatment, including medication, dose, frequency, duration, required labs, and monitoring parameters.
  • Review infusion orders proactively and collaborate with ordering providers to clarify, update, or correct orders as needed.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy to support medication readiness, dosing accuracy, and alignment with established protocols.
  • Verify required laboratory results and clinical prerequisites prior to infusion to prevent treatment delays or cancellations.
  • Monitor infusion therapy timelines and proactively identify expiring or incomplete orders.
  • Support appropriate scheduling and sequencing of infusion patients to optimize patient flow and resource utilization.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to infusion nursing staff related to therapy plans, protocols, and patient-specific considerations.
  • Identify trends, gaps, or risks related to infusion therapy planning and escalate concerns to leadership.
  • Participate in the development, standardization, and maintenance of infusion-related workflows, tools, and documentation practices.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance are required.
