About The Position

Monitors the performance of the Networks. a. Maintains disk space on all networks on a daily basis. b. Tracks server utilization statistics and makes recommendations for more efficient use. c. Monitors Network traffic on backbone and suggest ways to optimize the data transfer between work stations and servers. d. Evaluates the performance of routers and makes recommendations for improving performance. e. Monitors the performance of all servers and gateways. f. Monitors Network printing and evaluates the need for redistributing print jobs and adding Print servers. g. Maintains a log of user problems to evaluate the relationship they may have with the Network. Performs upgrades to Networks and servers. a. Provides written recommendations including justification of the desired upgrade to Senior Network Analyst. b. Develops a written plan for every upgrade that will be performed. c. Notifies the customer prior to any major system changes or repairs. d. Performs upgrades at a time that is convenient to the customers (i.e., nights or weekends as needed). e. Thoroughly tests all Network functions after any upgrade has been performed to ensure full user functionality the following day. Implements new technologies. a. Evaluates new software that may enhance the services offered by the Network. b. Evaluates hardware changes that will provide enhanced or additional functionality to the Network. c. Keeps current on new industry standards and trends. d. Uses pilot programs for installation of new technologies. e. Evaluates different operating systems for performance and functionality. Maintains documentation. a. Maintains hardware configuration information on all Network devices. b. Maintains software configuration information on all Network devices. c. Documents performance of Network daily and provides documentation to Management. d. Maintains diagram of Network layout. Provides Level 3 support to the Help Desk.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience with servers and networking.
  • Three to five years experience with microcomputer and server hardware installations, configuration and troubleshooting, to include routers, switches, and wireless networking.
  • Must have strong windows server skills and in-depth knowledge of Citrix / and or / virtual servers / computing.
  • Three years experience with Microsoft Networks.
  • Experience with Ethernet and network topology, including fiber and copper.
  • Must possess extraordinary communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS communications protocols.
  • Familiarity with SQL database servers.
