The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Information Technology Specialist II with experience in enterprise data architecture and modern cloud-based warehouse data solutions. The IT Specialist II serves as the Senior Data Analyst for CDI Information Technology Division (ITD) within the Software Engineering and System Engineering domains. The incumbent is responsible for providing vision, leadership, analysis and design expertise in creating and executing an enterprise data strategy applying advanced technical understanding and knowledge of data modeling and data analysis principles to accommodate needs of the department. Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386. PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits.   • Seven (7) years or more of progressively responsible experience in enterprise data architecture, including database design, data modeling, and data governance.
  • Five (5) years or more of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, security, and backup/recovery strategies
  • Three (3) years or more of experience with Snowflake or other modern cloud-based data warehouse solutions.
  • Three (3) years or more of experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, or Scribe).
