The CalSTRS Information Security Office Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as a Security Specialist in the Defense and Monitoring Unit. The Information Security Office (ISO) is CalSTRS' authority on information security and cybersecurity matters. The Information Security Office protects CalSTRS data assets from unauthorized access, use, misuse, disclosure, destruction, modification, or disruption. Read about the programs in ISO below. The Defense and Monitoring program prevents loss of CalSTRS data assets through establishing security defenses and continuous monitoring of CalSTRS' information systems, network and data. The Defense and Monitoring team efforts are focused on the assessment, detection, mitigation and prevention of security issues which preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information assets. Under the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer, the incumbent performs security monitoring and threat management requiring regular innovative problem-solving within broadly stated and non-specific guidelines, which includes: detailed security assessments; anomaly detection; incident response; and risk mitigation. This position involves performing duties in the Information Security Engineering and System Engineering domains.
