Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (required)
  • Active DOE/NRC Q-Clearance or DoD Top Secret clearance (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Science, or a security-related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting physical and virtual servers, SANs, and workstations
  • 5+ years of experience administering IT programs supporting regulatory inspections and compliance documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of NIST 800-series standards (800-53, 800-82, 800-171) and CNSSI 1253
  • Basic information security certification (e.g., Security+)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in IT, Engineering, Business, or Security-related field
  • Advanced security certifications (CISSP, CISM, SSCP, CCSP, CEH, etc.)
  • Experience working under 10 CFR 95 and NRC classified matter protection programs
  • Background supporting NRC-regulated or DOE-classified environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day IT operations for networks, servers, endpoints, and communications systems
  • Maintain secure system configurations, patching, and performance monitoring
  • Oversee IT asset lifecycle management, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal
  • Ensure all software and systems are properly licensed, supported, and compliant
  • Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, 32 CFR 117, and other applicable requirements
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, and risk registers
  • Support regulatory inspections and audits under DOE, NRC, and/or DoD oversight
  • Document security incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Recommend improvements to IT governance, procurement, and configuration management processes
  • Monitor system health, risk posture, and compliance status, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Ensure configuration changes and policy updates are reviewed and coordinated with the Information Security Programs Manager (ISPM)
  • Serve as the primary technical and operational point of contact for IT systems
  • Maintain effective, timely communication with regulatory agencies and stakeholders
  • Build strong partnerships across technical, security, and leadership teams
