Ability to take initiative and work independently. Ability to work under pressure and within many areas of responsibility at one time. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members. Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. Ability to operate standard office equipment and database software programs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to understand and maintain students’ and parents’ rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students. Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the development, operations, services, and continuous improvement of the district information systems and technology, both at the district and building level.
  • Supervise and direct the activities and performance of assigned personnel and cultivate a collaborative, solution-oriented culture in the Department.
  • Serve as an advisor and technical consultant with district and school leaders to coordinate technology initiatives efforts across the district and make recommendations on maintenance contracts and equipment for replacement or repair.
  • Implement security measures that protect the privacy of district, staff, and student data and ensure measures are in place that limit student and staff access to prohibited internet content.
  • Administer the financial system access management and permissions, to minimize access and ensure audit compliance.
  • Provide guidance and quotes to district personnel for all technology purchases.
  • Oversee and administer the District web filtering applications.
  • Prepare, maintain and monitor the IT inventory and budget as it pertains to purchase and/or repair of hardware, software, wiring projects, and telephone systems.
  • Facilitate integration of services from site to site.
  • Monitor the progress of major district technology projects, to include facility closures, moves, and other major problem resolution.
  • Establish policies and procedures as they relate to education technology in the District, to include IT operations and IT housekeeping.
  • Facilitate technology in-services and training for staff.
  • Provide oversight and technical assistance with connectivity problems, networking and servers.
  • Assist computer technicians with software and hardware problems.
  • Establish a recurring after-hours maintenance window for server updates.
  • Oversee the routine installation, upgrade and maintenance of computer software, hardware and equipment components of the District computer systems, networks, peripherals, CDs, etc.
  • Ensure the technological requirements of District departments, schools, and/or other end users are being met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare and submit Technology Grants to include E-Rate.
  • Prepare applicable Federal, State, and local reports and requests for information.
  • Assist in the maintenance of existing telephone and voice mail systems.
