Manages the operational aspects of the Credit Union’s Information Technology. Oversees and directs the day to day IT operations ensuring the confidentiality, availability and integrity of systems, services and infrastructure. Leads the team which is responsible for developing and implementing applications, servers and networks, responding to help desk requests and monitoring system stability and performance, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and alignment with the Credit Union’s objectives.

  • Works with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, information security, ecommerce, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Works with the CIO to develop the annual budget and ensure that department purchases and contracts stay within budget limits.
  • Assists the CIO in developing strategic plans and reviews and in implementing productivity and member service standards and in identifying information technology improvements.
  • Monitor servers, networks and computer systems for anomalies and performance issues. Constantly assesses system data, error logs and user submitted tickets to determine whether systems require updates, repairs or replacement.
  • Manages the IT team in daily operations to directly support end users and implement planned projects. Ensures that end user support is prioritized and assigned via the help desk ticketing system.
  • Manages the escalation of end user requests, to ensure that issues do not further impact other teams or members.
  • Develops and maintains IT policies, procedures and system documentation to ensure that the department operates effectively and reliably.
  • Manages vendor relations and monitor and review IT contracts to ensure that the contract terms meet all regulatory requirements, are in line with the budget, and are generally advantageous to the Credit Union.
  • Oversees upgrades and installations to ensure the systems remain stable, secure, accessible and able to efficiently process end user tasks.
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer where necessary on matters of information security and technology.
  • Keeps management timely informed of issues and resolves problems.
  • Provides training, coaching, counselling to employees. Communicates job expectations, appraises job contributions, recommends compensation actions and disciplines employees.
  • Cross-sells members on the benefits of utilizing other credit union services.
  • Performs other duties as might be assigned from time to time.
  • A high school or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required; plus five years experience at a mid-management level in technology planning and budgeting, SQL, telecommunications, networking, programming, and PC operating systems; or any equivalent combination of formal training and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities thereof.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common and intricate inquiries or complaints from members, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to executive management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of financial management.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations involved in job functions and practices.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
