About The Position

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking an Information Technology Infrastructure Operations Director who will be responsible for overseeing the global operations of network, server, storage, and end-user computing environments. This role will be located at either our Sterling Heights MI headquarters or London, Ontario facility and will report to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The Information Technology Infrastructure Operations Director is responsible for managing the global operations of network, server, storage, and end-user computing environments. This Senior role will drive synergies across the organization by standardizing the global infrastructure and ensuring optimal resource utilization by preventing duplication of effort. This will involve strategically deploying the most skilled employees for global activities to maximize efficiency and productivity. This Senior role will be responsible for leading a diverse team of approximately 100 employees located across various regions worldwide. This role will ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of the company's Information Infrastructure, while also driving continuous improvement and innovation in infrastructure operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant technical degree. (MBA/MS a plus)
  • Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated, relevant experience in Information Technology Management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role leading Information Technology applications operations, program management, and service management.
  • Must have proven experience managing global teams and large-scale IT projects.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of network, server, storage, and end-user computing technologies and best practices.
  • Will need to have exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and ability to make autonomous decisions.
  • Will need to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Has the ability to travel up to 20% when required
  • Familiarity and experience working within sensitive and or classified program environments desired
  • Availability to work outside regular business hours as needed, to address critical issues or coordinate with global teams.
  • Available 24 x 7 to manage severity of incidents as it relates to global infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, mentors, and manages a global team of approximately 100 Information Technology professionals, including network engineers, server administrators, storage specialists, and end-user computing support staff providing a pathway for succession.
  • Fosters a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, promoting professional development and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for infrastructure operations in alignment with the company's overall Information Technology strategy.
  • Will identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure operations.
  • Must stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • This role will oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the company's network, server, storage, and end-user computing environments to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Ensure robust monitoring, incident management, and problem resolution processes are in place to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
  • Develop and enforce global policies, procedures, and standards for infrastructure management, security, and compliance, while adhering to local regulations.
  • The role must ensure that the company's infrastructure remains secure through patching, vulnerability management and configuration hardening.
  • Will manage the refreshment of equipment, ensuring the latest technologies are incorporated.
  • Leads infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, refreshes and the implementation of new technologies and systems.
  • Collaborate with other Information Technology and business leaders to prioritize and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality service delivery and support.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, to provide updates on infrastructure performance, projects, and initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the infrastructure operations budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources across all global regions.
  • Allocate and optimize resources to meet operational and project demands.
