About The Position

Under the general supervision of the IT Manager I, who manages the Web & Software Development Unit, the incumbent will work independently and/or participate with other staff in the analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and documentation of custom application software and databases following the standards and practices set forth by the Department's information technology management staff. While assigned to a project, the incumbent may receive direction from their primary supervisor, and/or from the designated IT project manager. The incumbent will utilize common office productivity applications and specialized software developer tools as part of their primary job function. The incumbent may be required to communicate technical ideas and concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, to other technical staff and management. All development efforts will comply with all applicable legislation and policies. The majority of duties for this position fall under the Software Engineering domain. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense. Beginning July 1st, 2026, it is anticipated the position will be office-centered and employees will be expected to report to the office at least four days per week. Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with Visual Studio 2012+, ASP.NET, MVC, JavaScript/jQuery, Bootstrap, and Microsoft SQL Server 2008+.
  • Demonstrated experience with SDLC and Waterfall/Agile.
  • Demonstrated experience with C+ programming.
  • Experience with Geospatial: designing/Implementation, queries/service, and supporting end-users with geospatial analysis.
  • Experience with GOS ArcGIS: ArcGIS online services; dashbaords, content, and groups, GIS application customer support, installing, configuring, and updating the ArcGIS sutie, ArcGIS license manager, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcMap.
  • Two years of professional development.
  • Collaboration in a team environment.
