About The Position

Labcorp is seeking an Information Systems Engineer. This is a Remote role. Work Schedule: This is a full‑time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible. Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility. The Information Systems Engineer III serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for the design, implementation, enhancement, and operational support of complex information systems and integrations critical to business operations. This role applies advanced engineering expertise to solve moderately complex to complex technical problems, leads solution design within defined architectures, and contributes to system reliability, performance, and scalability. Operating with minimal day‑to‑day supervision, the Information Systems Engineer III partners closely with application teams, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. The role may provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives but does not have formal people management responsibility. Technical Delivery & Engineering: Design, build, configure, and maintain information systems and integrations in alignment with architectural standards and business requirements Analyze moderately complex to complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions Lead technical solution design for assigned initiatives, ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and performance Develop and support system interfaces, workflows, automation, and monitoring capabilities Execute system upgrades, enhancements, and migrations with minimal disruption to operations Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with product owners, business analysts, and cross‑functional IT teams to translate requirements into technical designs Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned platforms or services Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and change management processes Operational Excellence: Ensure systems meet operational, security, and compliance requirements Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and support procedures Participate in on‑call rotations, incident response, and post‑incident reviews as required Identify opportunities to improve system stability, efficiency, and supportability Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Provide informal technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers Contribute to engineering standards, reusable components, and best practices Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements aligned to business strategy

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Level 2 Cloverleaf Certification or higher
  • 4 or more years' of progressive experience in information systems engineering
  • Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise‑scale information systems
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following (as applicable to the environment): Application or integration platforms (e.g., middleware, APIs, ETL tools) Infrastructure or cloud platforms Databases and data integration technologies Scripting or automation languages
  • Solid understanding of system architecture, performance tuning, security principles, and resiliency
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident resolution in production environments
  • Familiarity with SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices
  • Experience with Cloverleaf 20.1
  • Experience with Web Services
  • Experience with Linux platforms
  • Experience with HL7 standards (ORM/ORU)
  • Well versed and proficient in Cloverleaf translations
  • Well versed and proficient in TCL programming language
  • Knowledge of Clinical and Hospital Lab testing
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage complexity
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams
  • Sound judgment in technical decision‑making and prioritization
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and tools
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to quality and reliability

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement EDI HL7 interfaces in accordance to Department Process/Standards
  • Manage interface priorities to achieve project deadlines
  • Participate in vendor/client technical collaboration and solutioning
  • Point contact for Interface Development issues and escalation related to technical obstacles or peer review
  • Maintain accurate project files and code for transition into production for Support Group
