About The Position

The UCF IT department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire an Information Security Professional III to serve as a senior leader within our Identity and Access Management (IAM) program, supporting both campus and Distance Learning environments. This role is responsible for designing, operating, and continuously improving identity lifecycle processes that ensure appropriate and timely access for students, faculty, staff, researchers, and guests. You will lead IAM workflow design and system integrations while acting as a trusted subject matter expert on identity-related security controls, policies, and regulatory requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence enterprise security practices while directly enabling the university’s academic and online learning mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in information security, identity and access management (IAM), or related security engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or governing identity lifecycle (joiner/mover/leaver) processes in a complex, enterprise or higher‑education environment.
  • Advanced experience with SailPoint (IdentityIQ or IdentityNow), including lifecycle states, workflow design, governance, integrations, and access certifications.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting Distance Learning, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), or large academic or research institutions.
  • Experience developing and maintaining IAM policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Familiarity with security and privacy frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001/27002, or FERPA‑related access considerations in higher education.
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional); CISM (Certified Information Security Manager); SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Engineer or IdentityNow certification; CIAM, IAM, or Zero Trust–related certifications (e.g., SSCP, CCSP); ITIL or service management certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identity Lifecycle Management (Joiner–Mover–Leaver) Own and manage the end‑to‑end identity lifecycle for students, faculty, staff, researchers, and guests supporting or using Distance Learning and university services. Ensure timely provisioning, de‑provisioning, and accurate affiliation changes that reduce institutional risk while preventing access gaps or delays.
  • SailPoint Lifecycle Governance & Workflow Leadership Lead the security design, governance, and continuous improvement of SailPoint lifecycle states and workflows. Align business rules with academic affiliations and instructional roles to enable accurate, consistent access decisions across central and distributed security teams.
  • Guest and Affiliate Identity Risk Management Establish and govern secure identity lifecycle processes for guest and affiliate users, including sponsorship models, access scopes, and expiration controls. Ensure non‑employee access is enabled appropriately while minimizing identity‑related risk.
  • Identity‑Driven Process Improvement & Security Controls Analyze and enhance identity‑related business processes supporting Distance Learning to address control gaps, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities. Partner cross‑functionally to strengthen identity assurance while maintaining effective self-service capabilities.
  • Enterprise Integrations & Access Oversight Provide identity security oversight for integrations between SailPoint and enterprise systems such as directories, ERP, service management platforms, and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas). Review identity data flows and access provisioning to ensure consistency, the ability to audit, and effective management of distributed security models.
  • Policy, Governance, and Senior Advisory Role Develop and maintain IAM policies, standards, procedures, and documentation supporting compliance and audit readiness. Serve as a senior subject matter expert by advising stakeholders, providing tier‑three support, offering functional leadership, and mentoring entry‑level staff as needed.
