What You'll Be Doing Stifel’s Information Security Teams protect sensitive data and critical systems across the firm, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets. The teams focus on network security, cybersecurity risk management, data protection, security operations, policy governance, and oversight of emerging technologies. As Stifel expands its use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, the Information Security team is strengthening its capabilities in model governance, secure adoption practices, and automated control design. Interns will gain exposure to these initiatives while contributing to the firm’s evolving AI security strategy. This internship offers hands-on experience across cybersecurity domains, with a focus in an information security risk management environment, and opportunities to work on real projects that enhance Stifel’s security posture and technology governance. Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technology and business teams.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and involvement in technical, analytical, or cybersecurity-related activities.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals including network security, risk management, data protection, and security operations.
  • Interest or experience in AI, automation, or data analytics tools such as Python, Power BI, RPA platforms, or machine learning frameworks.
  • Understanding of security policies, control frameworks, or compliance standards (e.g., NIST).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • At least two years of college completed by program start.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AI tools or platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or Azure AI is helpful.
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity, AI governance, automation, or risk management disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Identify business processes that could benefit from Information Security or AI/automation integration.
  • Support the design and execution of security exercises and automation-driven control testing.
  • Participate in AI risk assessments focused on model integrity, data privacy, governance, and operational resilience.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of AI security policies, standards, and assessment frameworks.
  • Assist with projects involving security automation, threat intelligence analysis, and evaluation of AI-enabled security tools.
  • Ensure Information Security policies remain aligned with firmwide governance documents and regulatory expectations.
  • Participate in security projects from planning through implementation and provide post-project support.
  • Complete administrative, documentation, and research tasks as assigned.
