About The Position

The Information Security Administrator’s role is to ensure the secure operation of the organization’s in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections across both Tribal Administration and Soboba Casino Resort operations. This includes reviewing server and firewall logs, monitoring network traffic, maintaining and updating virus and endpoint protection systems, and troubleshooting security-related issues. This role supports the execution, containment, remediation, and recovery activities associated with security incidents and vulnerability issues under established procedures, and conducts user activity audits and evidence collection where required.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required.
  • Entry- to mid-level security or IT certifications such as Security+, Network+, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of systems, network, or security administration experience in enterprise environments, preferred.
  • Any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to promote a positive and professional image.
  • Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
  • Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices, preferred.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of enterprise network, endpoint, and platform operating systems within heterogeneous environments, preferred.
  • Working technical knowledge of enterprise systems and platforms across Windows and Linux-based environments, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols, preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers, preferred.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and data protection practices, along with familiarity with information security frameworks and best practices such as NIST, CIS, and ISO standards, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, manage, and maintain security systems and associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, encryption tools, and anti-virus platforms.
  • Administer and maintain end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with approved security standards.
  • Manage connection security for local area networks, internal systems, email communications, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity and escalate findings to the Information Security Analyst or Manager as appropriate.
  • Apply approved security patches, configuration changes, and fixes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform system backups and support restoration activities as required.
  • Support security incident response activities by executing containment, remediation, and recovery actions under direction.
  • Test and implement approved security software, tools, and technologies.
  • Maintain operational security documentation and system configurations.
  • Provide on-call operational security support to end users and IT teams as required.
  • Support audits, assessments, and reviews by providing technical evidence and system access as requested.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.
  • Execute security controls and configurations in accordance with approved security standards and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the information security program based on evolving threats, technologies, and organizational needs.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of security awareness training for staff to ensure understanding of security policies and best practices.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans and assist in prioritizing and remediating findings.
  • Stay informed on emerging cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities; contribute to proactive defense strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize security tools and configurations to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage security controls for cloud-based infrastructure and services, if applicable.
