About The Position

The Information Developer II (Technical Writer) will design, develop, and deliver clear, concise, and effective documentation for PowerPlan’s suite of software solutions. This individual will support product launches and empower both internal teams and external users by creating high-quality, accessible materials. Success in this role is measured by the impact documentation has on product understanding and user satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical writer or related roles.
  • Experience in API documentation (OpenAPI, Postman, Bruno).
  • Experience in structured writing.
  • Experience in documenting enterprise-level software applications/solutions.
  • Process orientation and ability to analyze and design/build complex processes.
  • Excellent, effective communication skills, including executive presence through verbal and non-verbal communication (confidence, poise, and authority).
  • Clear and concise writing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced environment where meeting deadlines will require perseverance.
  • Skilled with Content Authoring Tools, with a preference for Madcap Flare experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile Environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrate the following bodies of knowledge: Industry/domain knowledge: Ability to apply industry knowledge in an area of domain specialty. Examples of domains are account, tax and budgeting.
  • Technical knowledge: Understanding of system and network architecture, system platforms, system access, database design, SQL queries and network protocols.
  • AI knowledge: RAG, prompt engineering, context engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Product Documentation for New Releases: Research, write, and publish end-user and technical documentation for all new product releases. Collaborate with Product Management, UX, Training, Engineering, and QA teams to gather technical information and user stories. Draft material should be delivered no later than 2 weeks after development has finished work on it in the sprint.
  • Maintain and Enhance Existing Product Documentation: Conduct quarterly reviews of all published documentation for accuracy, completeness, and usability. Solicit feedback from stakeholders, prioritize updates based on impact and frequency of use. Complete all prioritized updates within 90 days of each review cycle.
  • Develop and Maintain API Documentation: Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, and QA teams to produce comprehensive, accurate, and user-friendly API documentation in accordance with OpenAPI standards. Ensure API documentation is updated in tandem with new API creation and enhancements, and is available at the time of product release. Conduct periodic reviews to confirm alignment with current API functionality and usability best practices, addressing stakeholder feedback within defined timelines.
