Overview of position: FEDITC is seeking an Information Assurance/Security Specialist – Level III to work in the Dayton OH area, to support cybersecurity and information assurance activities in a DoD environment. This role requires advanced expertise in system security practices, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes to support systems in achieving and maintaining an Authority to Operate (ATO). A United States Citizenship and an active Secret DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in information assurance/cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of NIST RMF and DoD C&A processes.
  • Experience supporting ATO processes and developing accreditation packages.
  • Familiarity with security control frameworks (NIST SP 800-53).
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools and continuous monitoring.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead efforts on complex security tasks.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • IAT Level III certification
  • IAM Level III certification
  • CE (Computer Certification)
  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, implement, and enforce system security practices in accordance with DoD and NIST standards.
  • Support the System Owner and Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in developing and maintaining Certification & Accreditation (C&A) documentation packages.
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for information systems and environments.
  • Apply Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, including control selection, implementation, assessment, and authorization.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD 8570.01-M and applicable cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Develop, review, and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, SARs, and other security documentation.
  • Provide guidance on security controls, system hardening, and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Perform independent analysis and solve complex security challenges with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor junior personnel and may supervise lower-level staff.
