About The Position

The Infection Preventionist provides leadership and is responsible for the day-to-day activities for infection prevention at any of the WakeMed Health & Hospitals facilities, clinics or services. The Infection Preventionist is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, data and reporting of hospital acquired infection trends/clusters to intervene in the interest of patients', staff and visitors' safety. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for education of staff about Infection Prevention. Serves as the hospital liaison to the Department of Public Health. Monitors the environment to ensure safe practices of infection prevention according to regulatory requirements and hospital policies. Requirements

  • Certified in Infection Control
  • Bachelor's Degree

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Science Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Public Health Preferred
  • 1 Year Clinical - Infection Prevention and Control Preferred

Responsibilities
