In a direct patient facing environment, the infection preventionist professional implements, promotes and maintains an active infection prevention program through surveillance, investigative activities, consultation, education, policy development and Research. A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. On call requirements will be 1 week every 7 weeks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Three years of recent relevant clinical experience including nursing, infection prevention, respiratory therapy, or medical technology
- Strong communication, clinical assessment, and computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs)
- Certified in Infection Control - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc CBIC is required after two years of hire date
Nice To Haves
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Prior experience using EPIC
- Clinical background highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct surveillance for hospital acquired infections; analyzes data. Generates reports, identifies trends. Provide recommendations for improvement.
- Investigate clusters of infections, outbreaks.
- Utilize knowledge of microbiology, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of patient care equipment.
- Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conduct audits on infection prevention practices.
- Provide education and serves as a consultant to various levels of care providers.
- Coordinate infection prevention committee meetings and other related activities.
- Coordinate the annual infection prevention risk assessment, review, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention plan.
- Reports communicable diseases as required by the Ohio Department of Health.
- Collaborate with health departments in complying with issues related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases.
- Comply with mandates for state and federal public reporting of hospital acquired infections.
