Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. In a direct patient facing environment, Infection Preventionists implement, promote and maintain an active infection prevention program through surveillance, investigative activities, consultation, education, policy development and research. A caregiver in this position works 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of recent and relevant clinical experience (nursing, infection prevention, respiratory therapy or medical technology)
  • Strong communication, clinical assessment and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Certified in Infection Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC). This will be required after two years of employment and if already obtained, this will substitute one year of required experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveillance for hospital acquired infections.
  • Analyze data, generate reports and identify trends.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate clusters of infections and outbreaks.
  • Utilize knowledge of microbiology, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of patient care equipment.
  • Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Conduct audits on infection prevention practices.
  • Provide education and serve as a consultant to various levels of care providers.
  • Coordinate infection prevention committee meetings and other related activities.
  • Coordinate the annual infection prevention risk assessment, review, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention plan.
  • Report communicable diseases as required by the Department of Health.
  • Collaborate with health departments in complying with issues related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases.
  • Comply with mandates for state and federal public reporting of hospital acquired infections.
