About The Position

The Infection Preventionist assists leadership in the promotion and application of measures to prevent and/or control infections among patients, visitors, contractors, and employees. This individual will facilitate compliance with the many regulatory agencies with oversight to healthcare facilities. This individual will observe, evaluate, educate, and implement Infection Prevention practices and activities. The Infection Preventionist will identify and pursue additional Infection Prevention opportunities to meet Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) strategic goals and objectives. The position is accountable for ongoing Infection Prevention practices for designated facilities, executing the components of the Infection Prevention Specialty and may require travel. Monday - Friday; typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. No weekends/no holidays/no call.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, microbiology, public health or related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Power Point.
  • Two years experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Infection Control certification (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology to be obtained within three years of hire.
  • Applicable State Nurse license as applicable.
  • Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience working in infection prevention practice.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology upon hire.
  • Additional education (Master's of Public Health in an Infection Prevention relate field) may be substituted in lieu of experience.
