Job Summary: Performs diverse functions using epidemiologic principles associated with the prevention of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) surveillance, analysis, and interpretation and reporting of health care associated infections. Responsible for the detection and management (including investigation of clusters of healthcare associated events) and implementation of prevention measures; facilitating and providing ongoing education with both clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and families about infection prevention. Promotes high standards of Infection Prevention throughout the organization both on and off the Valley Children's Hospital campus and with the County, Public Health, State, and Federal public health officials. Please note that some weeks may require full on-site presence to support key projects or team priorities Education College Degree - 4 year (required) Or Equivalent Experience In related field (required) Licenses and Certifications RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required) Or CLS - Clinical Lab Scientist License - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required) Or Other - Other Master's degree or equivalent in Public Health or other related field and previous professional experience in Infection Prevention (required) CIC - Certification in Infection Prevention & Control - CBIC - Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology, Inc. within 24 months of hire or transfer into position (required) Work Experience Minimum three (3) years Related experience (required) Prior experience working in hospital infection prevention (preferred) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
